Castle Desenberg was probably founded in the 8th century and repeatedly rebuilt after several destructions. The ruin lies on a single extinct volcanic cone with wide view in all directions. Today you can find the remains of a polygonal castle complex, which has a large, round keep as its center. Some of the buildings still have outer walls. The ring wall has also been partly preserved. The complex should be visited, if you are in the vicinity. It is quite small and fast visited, but the view and the shadow play of the impressive mountain cone at sunset are worth seeing.burgenarchiv.de/burg_desenberg_in_nordrhein-westfalen

The ascent to the castle is on its own, but the view up there is worth your while 👍👌😁
