Bike Touring Highlight
The Bliesgau biosphere reserve is a UNESCO biosphere reserve in the southeast of Saarland on the border with the French region of Lorraine and Rhineland-Palatinate. It covers an area of approx. 36,000 hectares and is mainly characterized by forests, orchards and floodplain landscapes of the Blies. Furthermore, the diversity of animal and plant species as well as the dense juxtaposition of urban and rural areas are characteristic of the region.
