Around 1900, Wilhelm Röders purchased an extensively used area of more than 25 hectares from a farmer in Einfrielingen and had a landscaped park with several artificial bodies of water created there. He built his villa in Einfrielingen for his large family at the center of the newly created villa. From the beginning, the park was accessible to Soltau residents. Bridges and benches were provided to facilitate use. Around 1900 (the exact date is apparently unknown), the "Halifax" ice skating club also used the ponds for its training sessions. The club likely chose this name after a popular brand of ice skates at the time.
