Built in 1915 for the Panama-California Exposition, the Cabrillo Bridge is 916 feet long and 120 ft high. It was the first multiple-arched cantilever bridge in California and was influenced by bridges in Spain.
Franklin Roosevelt was the first to drive across when it was finished.
Unfortunately the bridge was made of wood and caught fire multiple times. The worst fire was so bad that firefighters drilled holes in the sidewalk to send water through the hollow pillars. You can still see the holes as you walk along the sidewalk

The Cabrillo Bridge was constructed for the 1915 Panama–California Exposition and serves as a connection between Balboa Park and the Uptown area of San Diego. This spot provides excellent views of the bridge, making it an ideal place to take a break.
