This section of the Queen Charlotte Track can be run without any problems. The trail is technically undemanding, the landscape is beautiful and the gradient is limited. This segment can be combined very well with a visit to the Onahau Lookout, which involves a few additional meters in altitude.
You can then run back the way or rent a boat. Unfortunately, I cannot answer how this works and whether you have to reserve it in advance.
