Slane Castle was built in the 1780s, overlooking the river Boyne. Today it's probably best known for hosting the Slane Festival. Over the many years of its existence, the festival has featured artists such as Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Queen – to name just a few. Not far from here, on the northside of town, rises the famous Hill of Slane.
