Road cycling

A long abandoned graveyard with several eighteenth century tombs visible, along with the foundation walls of an old church which was abandoned in 1729 when the congregation merged with Fossoway, nearby. Believed to be one of the oldest Christian sites in Scotland, Viking graves (i.e. Hogsback markers) were found in the nineteenth century and removed to various museums. A water damaged notice board near the circular monument gives details. Like many ancient sites it is the location as much as the visible remains that add to the atmosphere of the place.
