The hamlet was abandoned in a few days, due to a very violent flood, which occurred on the night of New Year's Eve in 1972. The flooding of the adjacent Fantina stream has semi-destroyed the lower part of the town, killing a family of 4. Currently, Rajù is totally uninhabited, but the center is preserved in excellent condition.
