FONTE MAGNA is the most important and well-known spring in Osimo and perhaps one of the oldest because it was there even before the Romans.

It was a semi-cylindrical concrete cistern with a diameter of twelve meters and five or six meters high.

Many secret tunnels that were under the houses of Osimane reached the source and the inhabitants of the city came out from a hidden door close to it, and identifiable even today, to supply themselves with water without being seen and thus face the enemy sieges.
