Extract from the Achberger Ferienzeitung 3rd edition from August 28, 2014:
    The ghost court of Dametsweiler
A historical review and a hiking tip.
A large courtyard that stands in the middle of a deserted area and is also half dilapidated, ghostly - that's how it lies, the "Geisterhof von Dametsweiler". Dametsweiler used to be a small village near the Argen near Neuravensburg. Nine men are said to have lived there in the 16th and 17th centuries, and they may also have had women and children. You know that from an old Turkish tax list.
The year of construction of the farm is not known exactly. When the plague and the Thirty Years' War raged around 1600, none of the families were there. In the years after 1650 some families lived in Dametsweiler again. Around 1740 the Hehle family came to take over what is now the “Geisterhof” and run it for over four generations. There were no other farms in Dametsweiler. At that time the yard was a very large yard, with a two-story house with an extension, barn and stable. There was also a small cheese factory that existed until the 19th century. At that time the courtyard was inhabited by four people.
Until 1950 the farm was used as a summer farm for 60 cows and 40 young cattle. The cows from Hiltensweiler were driven to Dametsweiler when they came up to the Alm, where they stayed for the whole summer. The family also lived in the courtyard at this time, without electricity or tap water, there was only one spring nearby. The yard was later used to shelter animals and grass pellets were made from grass.
The courtyard has been empty since 2008 and the children call it "Geisterhof von Dametsweiler". You are not allowed to drive to Dametsweiler, but you can hike there, and there is also a barbecue hut nearby.

A courtyard in nothing. The village animals used to graze here in summer.
