Mengeringhausen is a district of the small town Bad Arolsen in the northern Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg. In terms of population, it is the second largest district of Bad Arolsen after the core city and the largest in terms of area.
The place was first mentioned in a document as "City Mengeringhausen" in 1234 and probably already had city rights. Mengeringhausen Castle was owned by the Counts of Waldeck. In 1502, Rabe von Canstein looted and plundered the place and castle for the carnival. The background was an old feud with the Counts of Waldeck over border disputes. As a result, the city wall was reinforced and the St. Sebastianus Rifle Society was apparently brought into being. From 1689 to 1728 Mengeringhausen was the seat of the first Waldecker Land Chancellery. A district advanced training school was located in Mengeringhausen from 1925 to 1937.

On January 1, 1974, the town of Mengeringhausen became a district of Arolsen by virtue of state law as part of the regional reform in Hesse.
