North of Petersdorf lies the Galgenberg, an execution site that was artificially raised in the Middle Ages. However, there was no gallows here, but the perpetrators were beheaded. You can reach the Galgenberg from Petersdorf in a northeasterly direction via the Ratsollweg. In the Middle Ages, convicts were executed here. There was never a gallows on the gallows hill. The artificial hill is surrounded by two rows of small rocks and a treetop. The convicts were not hanged here, but beheaded. The Danish ruler Erik VII (1382-1459), also known as Erich the Pomeranian, had many inhabitants of Fehmarn murdered here in the 15th century. The last execution took place here in 1854 and was watched by 3,000 people.
