The chapel is dedicated to Saint Salvator or the Holy Redeemer. There was already a wooden chapel here in the eighth century. A stone church was built in the fourteenth century.

Around the St. Salvator Chapel, popularly known as the Chapel of Nijhoven, is a prayer garden as an oasis of peace and greenery between old trees. The restored sculpture groups of the Way of the Cross depicting the Passion of Jesus, the Seven Sorrows and the Five Secrets, evoke nostalgic memories of times gone by for many.
There is also a Lourdes grotto where you can light a candle.
