The Hohe Ward is part of the forest belt that surrounds Münster. In the higher areas you will find pine trees, in the lower areas beautiful mixed deciduous forest and there are also some sandy dry grassland and heath areas to be found.

It's definitely a nice route in the summer. Now - in October - everything was very muddy and some sections were closed due to construction work. There were also a lot of acorns along almost the entire route, which made walking difficult.
