La Croix des Carmes is a World War I memorial, located on the territory of the commune of Montauville, in the department Meurthe-et-Moselle, near Pont-à-Mousson, France.The Carmelite cross, initially a simple wooden cross, became one of the symbols of the bloody battles in Bois-le-Prêtre . Shortly after the war, it returned to its place of origin within a few meters and was enshrined in the stone monument commemorating this battle inaugurated on September 23, 1923 by Raymond Poincaré .Remnants of the battles remain visible on the site: trenches, cagnas, parapets, coils of barbed wire, horses of frieze...source: wikipedia
