From here, you can see the Kyllburg Collegiate Church in the distance. Situated at the highest point of the mountain ridge surrounded by the Kyll River, it is arguably Kyllburg's most important building. The church was constructed in three major construction periods. Archbishop Henry II built the choir and the two adjoining vaulted bays from 1276 to the end of the 13th century. Construction of the nave and the west façade began at the end of the 14th century. Local sandstone was used for this. The holes in the sandstone blocks show where the lifting tongs were inserted during construction. The collegiate cathedral was built in the third and final construction period, which fell in the first quarter of the 16th century. The church's most valuable furnishings are the Renaissance stained glass windows donated in 1533/34, depicting biblical scenes and the two founders, James and Bernard. The cloister, with its numerous gravestones, is considered one of the most beautiful between Trier and Maria-Laach Monastery. Source: eifel-direkt.de/a-stiftskirche-kyllburg
