What remains of the castle is the result of the restoration carried out in 1970 by the owner.
Some ruins remain of the ancient walls that were demolished in 1793.
In 1335 the Fogliani were the first owners of the manor, a strategic point of their area domains.
In 1370 the construction of a new castle is attributed, perhaps following the destruction of the previous fortification, as evidenced by a plaque.
The castle, except for a brief submission to the Este family, remained under the Fogliani family until 1589.
In 1596 the castle passed to Count Pompeo Aldrovandi of Bologna and remained with the descendants until the abolition of the fiefdoms
