"In 1768 I was placed on the border between Ohne (County of Bentheim) and Wettringen (Principal Bishopric of Münster). Nothing changes in my location and my inscriptions carved in stone when, after the Napoleonic era and the Congress of Vienna in 1816, the Münsterland was handed over to Prussia and the County of Bentheim fell to the Kingdom of Hanover. I guarded the common national border for over 200 years."heimatverein-wettringen.de/index.php/mitteilungen/107-memoiren-des-historischen- Grenzsteins-von-1768-an-der-landes border-nrw-niedersachsen
