The parish church of Santa Maria alla Sovara is a sacred building located in the locality of Pieve di Sovara in Anghiari.
The parish church, mentioned as early as 1030, was probably built around the 9th-10th century.
The original layout is preserved outside in the three beautiful apses characteristic of the pre-Romanesque architecture of Arezzo, probably prior to the year 1000.
The interior was redesigned according to the Renaissance style and divided into four bays, with round arches divided by stone columns, with composite capitals and very fine Attic bases inspired by the thirteenth-century cathedral of Sansepolcro.
