The Guntherstein (around 700 m above sea level) is a lookout rock in the Bavarian Forest high above the climatically favorable Lallinger Winkel with the eponymous village of Lalling.The name comes from Saint Gunther, who once moved from Niederalteich Monastery to the then still deserted and primeval Bavarian Forest, cleared parts of the forests for settlement areas and later settled in the Bohemian Forest.
