Hohenlimburg Castle is the only hilltop castle in Westphalia that has largely been preserved in its original medieval condition. Located on the Schlossberg of Hohenlimburg in North Rhine-Westphalia, the ensemble of town and palace is also called the Westphalian Heidelberg because of its picturesque location. In 1975 the city of Hohenlimburg was incorporated into the city of Hagen.
