In the middle of the border between the former county of Gelre and the county of Horn, a brick church was built, as an exchange of a smaller chapel.
It was built by Frans Dupont in 1911, after earthquake / water damage at the end of the 20th century, the building and the paintings were restored.

This chapel in Roermond is dedicated to Saint Joseph (Joseph), the foster father of Jesus Christ. Like Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, he is a man on the threshold between the Old and the New Testament. Joseph was from the house of David, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was a carpenter by trade and the fiancé of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The commemoration day of Saint Joseph in the calendar of saints is on March 19th, and on May 1st the church celebrates the feast of “Joseph the Worker”.
