In March 2017 this year it was announced that Tjeu Wijgergangs had made the winning design for a watchtower along the N279. Immediately afterwards, the employees of Nooijen from Oss set to work to make the tower real. The tower was created with wood that was cut for the widening of the N279. The idea to build a tower coincided with Castle Heeswijk's plan to rebuild the old motteburcht, the predecessor of the castle.However, anyone who now climbs the tower does not (yet) have a view of Heeswijk Castle due to the many trees. The provincial house can be seen in the distance.A number of benches and picnic areas are available on site.
