After the settlement of disputes between the Kingdom of Prussia and the Electorate of Cologne, the border was secured in 1726 by fourteen “newly installed stone posts”, of which nine of these boundary stones are still preserved today. They mark the border of Krefeld's glory from the Glockenspitz via Schützenhof to Schicksbaum. On the front there is the Moers coat of arms and (below) the lettering “Crevelt”, on the back there is the Electoral Cologne coat of arms and (below) the lettering “Kempen”. On the other pages you can find the year “1726” and the running number of the boundary stone.

This boundary stone is the sixth on the route "The Boundary Stone Route - Cycle Tour along the "Herrlichkeit Krefeld" (Heritage of Krefeld).
The cycle tour led by our city guide, Georg Opdenberg, will reveal a piece of history and take you past a total of 11 boundary stones. The suggested route is based on the city limits of 1726 and winds its way from boundary stone to boundary stone. The route traces the outer boundary of the former "Herrlichkeit Krefeld," even though not all of the original boundary stones have been preserved. This is understandable, considering that the city has expanded from a small rural community in almost 300 years to the south, west, and east, all the way to the state border.
