Magical climb on really good new road surface. Love the signs for the next 1km showing the gradient getting gradually tougher. 9.8% for the last 0.5km was tough going. Good laugh for the couple at the top taking pictures though to see my auld carcass coming up the gap!

Cycling

There are two passes in the highlands of Kerry linking the north of the peninsula with the south, through the mountains. One is Bealach Beama, the other Bealach Oisin. Bealach Beama will bring you to Waterville and Bealach Oisin brings you to Cahersiveen or Waterville. Rock Art can be found dotted around the landscape. There is evidence of a “Cillin”, (primarily used for the burial of unbaptised children), which is located among the rock art. A “cillin” is usually marked by little more than an area of uncultivated stony ground raised above the general surroundings.
