From an elevated position on the earth wall next to the road, you can take a glimpse of the preserved piece of concrete from the runway.
The City of Munich operates a warehouse for bulk goods and building materials at De-Gasperi Bogen. This is exactly where the runway used to go. Signs forbid entering the area, however, so we either have to be content with the view or, for better or worse, take a detour to actually enter the piste.

Awesome, you wouldn't believe that there was a lot of flight activity here if you didn't know.
On the site of the old Riem airfield there are now miles of hiking and cycling trails, sports and playgrounds and an enormous amount of green space.
