    THE CHAPEL OF MILON

Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Virgin: a first chapel was built in the 12th century by Milon de Chevreuse, then replaced by this building in the 18th century.

Before the two hamlets of Milon and La Chapelle were regrouped, the inhabitants of La Chapelle went there for services, while those of Milon went to Chevreuse.

The church and the presbytery were seized during the Revolution, and bought by the citizen Beauvilliers.
Thanks to a subscription from the inhabitants, the church was returned to worship.

The two bells of the chapel date from before the Revolution. Following their restoration, they were classified as historical monuments.
    - Large bell of the Chapel, in the key of G, weight 75 kg, date of casting 1762.
    - Small bell of the Chapel, in the key of B, weight 40 kg, dated 1613, it is the oldest of the two.
The inscription "IE FVS MADE TO SERVE THE CHAPEL OF VAVLX LAN 1613" suggests that it belonged to Vaux de Cernay (purchased and installed in 1964).

Magnificent view of a beautiful meadow and its horses
Don't miss the detour along the Ravine path, from the charming little church of Milon-la-Chapelle.
