There are several Bronze age burial mounds (barrows) in this immediate area. Eye-catching against the otherwise flat terrain, some are 10 feet (3 m) high. Pottery and bone fragments were discovered when Bell Barrow was excavated. The barrows have Scheduled Ancient Monument status.
