Hardenbroek is first mentioned in 1382. The first list of knightly manors appeared in 1536. Hardenbroek is included in this. The house was then occupied by Joost van Hardenbroek. In 1662 Pieter van Hardenbroek died, who had no sons. He left the house to his cousin Hendrik Gijsbert van Hardenbroek. He sold it in 1684.
