The Maira stream (in Piedmontese means "lean") originates in the Cottian Alps from a small lake in the Borgata Saretto area.
It is the last major tributary of the Po before Turin. Upstream of the confluence is the canal that feeds the lake of the Racconigi Royal Park.
In the past, on this stretch of the river a ferry transported people and agricultural machinery from one bank of the river to the other.
In the upper Valle Maira, in the locality of Chiappera (Comunale di Acceglio) the stream gives rise to the Stroppia Falls, with a jump of 500 meters they are the highest waterfalls in Italy.

Beautiful corner of nature, reachable by an easy dirt road suitable for all bicycles. Beach for those who want to cool off, table and benches in the shade, a beautiful place for a break - or even to spend an afternoon at the beach like in the past.
