The entrance seems to promise little, but the interior will amaze you
Legend has it that this splendid palace was the castle of the Unnamed described by Manzoni in "I Promessi Sposi". The heart of the building: Palazzo Vecchio dates back to the end of the sixteenth century and was built on pre-existing fortifications. Recently restored, it houses the town hall on the ground floor.
The noble floor offers numerous frescoed rooms, which make it one of the most successful pages of the Lombard baroque. Frescoes dedicated to dynastic glories can be observed in the reception rooms, in particular in the so-called throne room, dated 1675, where the most illustrious exponents of the Visconti family stand out on high pedestals in the form of painted monochrome statues.
