The impressive castle with its beautiful park is located directly on the banks of the Main and is easily accessible by bike.

      Philippsruhe Baroque Palace + Park – Hanau🚴‍♂️

The palace was built between approximately 1700 and 1725 for Count Philipp Reinhard of Hanau near Kesselstadt as a Baroque palace west of the city of Hanau. It is the oldest Baroque palace east of the Rhine built according to a French model.
Its current appearance is largely the result of renovations from the Wilhelminian period: Landgrave Friedrich Wilhelm of Hesse-Rumpenheim lived in the palace for only four years (from 1880 until his death in 1884), which is short considering the five years of renovations that had preceded it. However, the rooms of the "bel étage," now occupied by the Historical Museum, predominantly reflect his taste in the Renaissance style, despite the largely lost furnishings. In 1594, Count Philipp Ludwig II purchased a plot of land in the area of the present palace to build a country house. This Renaissance palace was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. During the Napoleonic occupation, Philippsruhe Palace was given by Napoleon to his sister, Princess Pauline von Borghese. After the occupation, the palace grounds were transformed into an English garden, of which only the preserved linden avenues remain. 🚴‍♂️

The castle terrace offers a magnificent view of the Main River. It's one of the most beautiful summer spots in Hanau and the surrounding area.
