The basalt deposits in the Leinleitergebiet were formerly mined in several fractions and used for railroad and road construction.
Unfortunately, the basalt quarry is already heavily overgrown. Interestingly, however, the volcanic activity in this area about 30 million years ago as lava flows promoted the basalt to day.
