The Avre aqueduct is one of the structures that supplies the city of Paris with drinking water. Inaugurated in 1893, it transports 80 million liters (out of a total of 680 million liters) per day from the Drouais in Eure-et-Loir1.

The Avre aqueduct is part of the capital's complex drinking water supply system. This includes deep wells and springs spread over a 175-kilometer radius around Paris on the one hand, and river water treatment plants on the other.

It is managed by the Eau de Paris company, formerly known as SAGEP, a public limited company for the management of Paris waters.

The water is conveyed by simple gravity: the altitude of the sources in the Avre region is 40 m higher than the level of the Saint-Cloud reservoir, their point of arrival. Several sources are captured in the Dreux region, in the Avre supply basin.
