piazza Era, on the river bank, overlooked by “casa Monti“, characterized by an elegant loggia that has earned the building the nickname of “little convent”. This is the place where the fishermen put their nets to dry. Precisely for this reason it was called "Piazza del pesce", just to remember the ancient activity that characterized the village in the past. Pescarenico is also a town explicitly mentioned by Manzoni in his Promessi Sposi: "Pescarenico is a small land, on the left bank of the Adda, or rather of the lake, not far from the bridge: a small group of houses, mostly inhabited by fishermen, and decorated here and there with trammels and nets tended to dry.…"
