The church, built in the high Gothic period, was originally a three-aisled hall church. From 1742 to 1753 the interior was converted into a baroque wall-pillar church and the interior was completely renovated in the Rococo style.
The interior, light and wide, supported by white pilasters, richly adorned with stucco ornaments and frescoes, extends with its splendor and beauty far beyond the dimensions of a country church.
The church is built from Nagelfluh ashlars. The stately tower with a Gothic substructure closes off at the top with a rococo dome.
There is an ossuary on the west gable of the church. This soul chamber was used for the visible storage of skulls, some of which are quite artfully labeled and painted.
