The Uhlan monument in the Demmin "fir trees" was erected in 1924 in honor of the "2nd Pomeranian Uhlan Regiment No. 9, Demmin" and destroyed in 1945 by the Soviet Army. In 1993 a working group was formed to restore the monument, which was inaugurated on May 23, 1995 after extensive charitable work.After interviewing contemporary witnesses Otto Hecht, Werner Taufmann and Werner Hübner, the remains of the destroyed equestrian statue could be dug up right next to the monument and put up again.
