The former slate workshops of the immense Dinorwig quarry today host the National Slate Museum. There's nowhere better to learn about Snowdonia's rich slate heritage, the hardships faced by the workers and the sheer size and scale of the industry that existed here.

Admission is free, there are regular workshops and there's also a cafe. Find out more: museum.wales/slate
