Rothschild Castle

The originally medieval castle with a building core from the first half of the 13th century was the seat of the Freising carers for centuries. Once bishops resided here, later Baron Rothschild lived behind the thick stones, today the historic walls are owned by the town of Waidhofen an der Ybbs. The castle underwent a major renovation. A modern, glossy glass cube on the castle tower is visible from afar and testifies to the courage of the star architect Hans Hollein to combine the old with the new.Although Rothschild Castle is on the edge of the city center, it is the central point of contact: In addition to the tourist office, which provides visitors with information about the region, it houses the 5-element museum. This is where the city's history becomes “tangible” and the toy world shows the imaginations and stories of children from bygone days.

The scenery is very beautiful, but the riding technique and terrain are definitely not up to the challenge of mountain biking!!!! What a pity😩
