"If you compare French outskirts that were created after 1870 with the German city districts from that time, I can't detect any difference in quality. Freiburg, for example, is a thousand times more beautiful in its Wilhelminian style districts than Colmar or Mulhouse. Also Charlottenburg, Prenzlauer Berg and other Wilhelminian style districts Berlin is far more beautiful than the suburbs of Paris. You might not see that as a tourist. But if you live in our cities, you know very well which parts of the city make up the flair of your own city."
