The Picture Book Museum, housed in the manor house of Wissem Castle, is unique in Europe. As a specialized museum for artistic picture book illustration, it boasts a top-class collection of illustrations. In addition, there are collections of historical children's books and artists' books. Exciting temporary exhibitions allow visitors to discover facets of contemporary picture book illustration. The grounds surrounding Wissem Castle have much to offer. The park features wildlife enclosures, a sensory trail, and a spacious playground.

The idyllic location of Wissem Castle in a park with wildlife enclosures and an adventure playground, on the edge of a sprawling nature reserve between Cologne and Bonn, makes the museum a popular destination for visitors of all ages. Wissem Castle in Troisdorf is Europe's only specialized museum for artistic picture book illustration, historical and modern picture books, and artists' books.
