Bismarck Tower Hildburghausen

The observation tower on Hildburghausen's 496-meter-high town hill was built in May 1882 on the initiative of the Hildburghausen Beautification Association.
This association, which had existed since the mid-19th century and was revived in 1878, was particularly dedicated to the creation of hiking trails and quiet, scenic spots around Hildburghausen.
The drawing for the 15-meter-high tower was created by the Hildburghausen artist and engraver Plato Ahrens.
