Apparently the troops told the population that they would leave as soon as it snowed.
The snow arrived on August 2, a few days before the anniversary of the Madonna della Neve (August 5), driving out the French.
The building has a sturdy portico in front of the church entrance that offers a comfortable stop for the traveler.
