This Grade I-listed manor dates back to the very beginning of the 13th century, although it underwent significant remodelling in the 17th century. Lying in stunning grounds, the manor was originally built as a hunting lodge for King John before being transformed into a house for the heirs of the title 'Earl of Salisbury'.

The estate is sprawling and a mixture of wonderful gardens and working farmland. The public can visit the gardens and the garden centre from March to September each year and access to the gardens is subject to an entry fee.
