The abbey was a monastery of the order of Premonstratensian. It was founded in 1133 by the prior Raimbaud, canon of Saint-Paul de Besançon who placed the priory under the dependence of this abbey. The priory was transferred the following year to the Premonstratensians of Saint-Martin de Laon.
The building was listed as a historical monument in 2003.
