The history of the castle dates back to the 13th century, but the historic building has survived the test of time well. You stand in front of an extraordinarily well-kept castle building, which today (a large company based in Knesebeck) serves as a conference venue. A well-tended park with remains of an old defensive wall opens up around the castle. Definitely worth staying here. At the entrance to the main road, a large information board provides interesting facts about the history of the castle.

Not much of the old castle wall can be seen because nature is just taking the place back. But it is worth going there, there is an old "manor house" which is used as a picture academy by the Butting company. The house has many red-flowered climbing roses on the southwest side and a park with a stream and many old trees such as ash and beech trees. There are also benches, so you can take a nice break here.
