On September 27, 1896, the neo-Gothic style three-nave church was inaugurated. It replaced the first church consecrated in 1298. In this first construction also the old Gothic defense tower was included in the church construction. It dominates the townscape of Nieder-Roden to this day and is the oldest building in Rodgau for many years under monument protection. The valuable Marian altar (around 1520) was restored after heavy damage during the Thirty Years' War. The 1900 built by the company Schlimbach "romantic" organ of the Matthias Church is a rare treasure and thus a music-historical rarity ...
