On the border between the counties of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, Old Dalby is a lovely village in the rolling Wolds. For centuries, an oak tree, the Turkey Oak, has stood proud on the village green. However, in 2019, it was found to be diseased and has since been pollarded.

A number of trails splay out into the surrounding countryside. Old Dalby Wood lies to the south of the village. It is a beautiful place for a walk in spring.
