At this weir, the water from the Haidenaab is diverted into the Brandnergraben, which feeds the Beckenweiher (ironworks pond) in Weiherhammer.

The Northeast Bavarian Northern Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park is 1380 km² in size and includes the entire district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab, southern parts of the district of Tirschenreuth and the town of Weiden in der Oberpfalz.
It extends beyond the area of the eponymous Upper Palatinate Forest to the Rauher Kulm.
With the neighboring Fichtelgebirge, Steinwald and Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Parks, the Northern Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park forms a closed nature park area along the Czech border.
On May 7, 2009, the first information point in the Northern Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park was opened in the Burgtreswitz castle complex.(Source: Wikipedia)
