It was the object of interest of many scholars and there is also an urban legend about it which tells of the suicide of its creator, who jumped from the bridge for fear that his creation might give way. Which is obviously not true. It has certainly been the subject of many suicides over time and perhaps this is where the legend was born. It is a candidate to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site
